Yesterday, July 7, 2017, President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin had a “robust and lengthy exchange” as per U.S. Secretary Rex Tillerson, over Russian interference in the U.S. elections and agreed to a ceasefire agreement for Syria. Among other things they discussed at the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany, was Ukraine, North Korea and cyber security.
Russia’s Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, confirmed the meeting took place and claimed that President Trump “heard Putin’s statements that Russia did not hack the election and accepts them.” That is their comment, not ours. Rex Tillerson stated that while Presidents Putin and Trump agreed that the Russian interference in the U.S. elections issued had become a difficulty to better relations between the two powers.
