Director Mick Mulvaney of the Office of Management and Budget.  Why do we need a bipartisan spending bill? he said.  This bill requires 60 votes.  Republicans could have passed a bill from the House, but it would not have passed the Senate.  We would have been accused of not being able to function and run the government.  We have to have 8 democrats to support this in the senate.  We must work with Democrats.

The Democrats have claimed a victory on this, it is a strange way to look at a bipartisan discussion. He said it was important and only fair to see what is Really in the bill and how the President cut a fair deal for the American people.

LIST OF THINGS REPUBLICANS GOT IN THE NEGOTIATION:

  1. $21 BILLION OF ADDITIONAL DEFENSE (BROKEN DOWN)

    • $15 BILLION IN A STAND ALONE (OCO) OVERSEAS CONTINGENCY ACCOUNT

    • $6 BILLION THAT IS HARD-WIRED TO THE DOD APPROPRIATION BILL (OMNIBUS)

  2. THE TOTAL DHS SPENDING WILL BE NORTH OF $42 BILLION DOLLARS (The largest funding of border security in the last 10 years)

  3. MINORS HEALTH – President asked for a way to fix the minors health problem in Appalachia.

  4. Every single Second Amendment protection that we wanted and the Democrats wanted to get rid of is still in the bill

  5. Every single Pro-Life protection that we wanted to keep in the bill and the Democrats wanted out is gone. Republicans broke parity.  It means ever since the caps came on, ever since the sequester went in, there was this unwritten deal on Capital Hill which is for every dollar of defense spending the Republicans wanted they had to give one Dollar worth of non-defense spending to the Dems. That was the Deal that President Obama was able to cut during  his last years in office.  We got $21 billion dollars of spending for less than $5 Billion Dollars of non-defense spending.  This is a huge win for this President. THIS IS STUFF THAT WE LIKE.

WHAT DIDN’T THE DEMOCRATS GET:

  1. THERE IS NO OBAMACARE BAILOUT IN THIS PACKAGE. Not there, but Dems are telling you and it is false. The Dems are telling that to their base and they failed.

  2. No new money for Puerto Rico. Dems said that they got $295 Million dollars. Not a penny is new money. It was already spent, it was there from Obamacare. No new money spent. We agreed to move it from one place to another. No new money.

  3. No renewable Energy Subsidies for Wind and Solar.

  4. Dems were desperate to Have a Shutdown. 

 

WE GOT DEFENSE, BORDER SECURITY AND SCHOOL CHOICE. THE PRESIDENT DELIVERED ON HIS PROMISES AND GOT HIS PRIORITIES FUNDED.
